Welcome to Simply Sunshine Early Education! We understand that starting at a new childcare centre can be a big adjustment for both children and parents. That’s why we’ve created this guide to help make the transition as smooth as possible for your little one.

Before your child’s first day:

Visit the centre: Schedule a tour of Simply Sunshine so your child can become familiar with the environment and meet the educators. This will help to ease their anxiety on the first day.

Talk to your child: Explain to your child what to expect at Simply Sunshine. Use positive language and focus on the fun activities they will get to do.

Pack familiar items: Send a comfort object from home, such as a stuffed animal or blanket, to help your child feel secure.

Practice saying goodbye: Role-play saying goodbye so your child knows what to expect. Make sure your goodbyes are positive and upbeat.

On your child’s first day:

Arrive early: Allow plenty of time for your child to settle in and explore the centre before it gets too busy.

Stay for a while: If your child is comfortable, consider staying for a short time on the first day. This will help them to feel more secure and make the transition easier.

Be patient: It may take some time for your child to adjust to their new surroundings. Be patient and understanding, and avoid pressuring them to participate in activities they’re not ready for.

Communicate with the educators: Let the educators know about your child’s routines and any special needs they may have.

Tips for making the transition smoother:

Establish a consistent routine: Create a consistent routine for mornings and evenings to help your child feel secure and prepared.

Talk about their day: When you pick up your child, ask them about their day and listen attentively. This will help them to feel valued and connected to you.

Stay positive: Your attitude can have a big impact on your child’s feelings. Stay positive and enthusiastic about their new experience.

Get involved: Attend parent events and volunteer at the centre whenever possible. This will help you to get to know the educators and other parents, and feel more connected to the community.

We are confident that your child will have a happy and enriching experience at Simply Sunshine Early Education. We are here to support you every step of the way, so please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
